Jerry Jean
IC-US-NY-NewYorkCity
Jerry Jean is an NYC based award-winning songwriter, producer, and musician. He is the founder of Vocal Artist House, a dynamic music production and vocal coaching studio in Harlem. Jerry has worked with Grammy®, Tony, and Emmy winning artists, winners of The Voice, and everyday people who sing to feed their soul. He is Taiwanese-American and the younger brother of acclaimed visual artist James Jean.
Jerry draws from a mix of timeless pop, soul, electronic, and classical influences. 2022 single, Pacific Coast, with Elia Esparza (The Voice, USA; La Voz, México) is a heartfelt duet inspired by enduring partnership and the eternal beauty of California's coastline. 2022 single, September Sky, imparts earnest soul and nostalgia while reckoning with the swift passage of time. 2021 single, Marathon, was born from the depths of lockdown and the stresses of raising a family amidst the pandemic. 2020 single, Liberated, is a call to drop media addiction in order to fully connect to oneself. 2018 EP Vocal Artist House (Live Sessions) is a collection of soulful, classic songs (including God Bless the Child and For All We Know) featuring some of NYC’s most compelling singers accompanied by Jerry at the piano. In the age of unlimited tracks, these songs were stripped down and recorded / filmed live - no overdubs, no autotune.
2017 LP, Do We Reach Home, revolves around the search for home in a chaotic modern world. Cinematic and grand, Jerry weaves together haunting melodies and earnest lyrics over a warm, piano-driven backdrop with lush strings. The album was honored at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards as well as the Global Music Awards.
Early work includes his first EP, Fighting for You, which broke into the iTunes Top Albums chart upon release. The title track of his second EP, Your Love, is a 2014 International Songwriting Competition winner, chosen from 18,000+ songs from 100+ countries. Enough, a song written in response to racial profiling, is a 2016 Global Peace Song Awards Finalist. His Morningside EP is an intimate record of anticipatory-nostalgic songs inspired by family.
A multi-instrumentalist (piano, violin, laptop) and singer, Jerry has performed in venues as varied as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, MTV Unplugged, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the United Nations, and The Bitter End. Jerry has performed with artists spanning Florence + The Machine to Boyz II Men.
