Dale Edward Chung is Latin Grammy® winner, singer, actor, musician, performer, proudly representing the AAPI community, is a fifth generation Chinese American. Originally from Oakland, California now in Los Angeles.  He performed extensively in the 1990’s Acid Jazz scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

In 2022, he was part of the Grammy Nominated album “Sakura” by Masa Takumi for Best Global Music Album.


He played on the 2019 Billboard Top 10 Dance hit, Taylor Swift - Me (The Robert Eibach Remix). He was also the resident percussionist for the Ultimate Jam Night shows at the legendary Whisky A Go Go.  


He was also member of the legendary R&B/Funk group, Con Funk Shun until 2016, touring the world, performing in stadiums, arenas and on their 2015 Billboard Top 20 Adult R&B album "More Than Love". 


Along with the winning a 2019 Latin Grammy with The Lucky Band,  he won an Indie Music Channel Award for Best R&B Producer and the Oakland Indie Mayhem People's Choice Award.


As a solo artist under the formerly used moniker, “D. Edward”, he’s performed alongside Leela James, Loose Ends, and Fantastic Negrito. His first solo album, Little Red Box, gained radio airplay around the USA.  His song "Truly" broke the Top 20 of the FMQB Adult Contemporary Chart and remained on the chart for almost a year.  His music video, “Love Is” (2014), premiered on Magic Johnson's Aspire TV Network and "Show Me" was selected by MTV & Vh1 for their online format. 


This year marks a new beginning as a solo music artist.  He has rebranded from D. Edward to Dale Edward Chung his first single "It's Over" won the Los Angeles Indie Film Fest award for Best Original Song and the EdiPlay International Film Festival award for Best Music Video in Paris, France. 


As an actor, he starred in the film, Unspoken, directed by Stacey Marbrey, that won a SAG Award.  He was featured in the Marriott Bonvoy commercials, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and filmed by Cinematographer Janusz Kaminsky, that debuted during the Academy Awards.


He’s a member of The Recording Academy and currently serves on the Advocacy Committee for the Los Angeles Chapter, working with the membership and Congress to protect the rights of music creators.  He's currently on the Artist Committee of the David Z Foundation, a non-profit that raises money for music education and has previously served on the Boards of the Keep Music Rockin’ Foundation and FilAm Creative.
